 1. Constituents – 选民


ex. The MP(Member of Parliament) is playing on his constituents’ sense of regional identity to win votes. She’s pledged to help her elderly constituents.


这个议会成员正试图利用选民的地域认同感来赢得选票。她承诺将会帮助那些年长的选民。


2. Electorate – 全体选民


ex. In the United States, most citizens at least 18 years of age form the electorate.


在美国的,大部分公民至少要十八岁过后才能享有投票权。


3. Electoral College – 选举人团


ex. The Electoral College will dominate the airwaves and the headlines on Election Day Tuesday.


选举人团将在星期二选举日当天,佔据电视广播和头条新闻。


4. Bicameral – 两院制


美国的两院是指参议院和众议院。在两院制下,所有议案必须经两院通过才能成为法律。


ex. This bill requires bicameral approval to get passed.


这个法案需要经过两院审核、批淮才能通过。


5. Polling – 投票流程


ex. The polling for German elections was very chaotic.


德国选举的投票流程十分混乱。

8. Plurality/ Relative Majority – 多数/相对多数


指候选人获得的票数最多,但少于总票数的一半。


ex. Reuben is elected by plurality. Will he be able to become a leader of the masses?
