acquaintance 在英文中表示“认识的人”，你们也许只是打过照面，并没有什么深交或实质性的往来。所以被成为“泛泛之交”。近年来随着微信朋友圈的兴起，我们又多了一种新类型朋友“点赞之交”。

【例句】

 I have a nodding acquaintance with him, but I wouldn't feel comfortable asking him to help me on this project.

我认识他（不熟），但我不想在这个项目上找他帮忙。

If you're a confidante, two things must be true: you have to be female, and you must be someone who people feel comfortable telling secrets to.

confidant可以理解为“闺蜜”“红颜知己”，一般表示女性。一个你可以无话不谈，尽情倾诉的好朋友。去掉"e"以后，则表示男性知己，“蓝颜知己”。
